Organized in the spring of 2012 and headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, On River Time is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves abused and neglected children who at a young age have faced unfathomable circumstances. Our program reaches children from all over the nation. We provide these youth and their parents or guardians three nights and two days of fly-fishing at The Lodge at Palisades Creek, located in Swan Valley, Idaho, on the banks of the picturesque Snake River, tucked in the shadows of the beautiful Grand Tetons. Our program selects children from reputable nonprofit partners and provides them with a trip they might not otherwise ever experience.
By supplying all of the funds for air travel, meals, fishing accommodations and gear, On River Time meets several needs: the chance for troubled children to cast away their cares and realize a beautiful world through fishing and an appreciation of nature; the chance for these children to learn a new skill and find success at accomplishing a challenge; the chance for children to travel and connect with others from different parts of the country to realize they are not alone.
Moreover, we provide a time for children and parents or guardians to be together away from the stressors and distractions of everyday life and give nonprofit directors who struggle with limited funds a way to offer more educational and recreational experiences to the children in their care.
