Our annual board meeting was held recently, virtually. We were excited to share with our board members a recap of 2020 and all of the ways On River Time experienced growth in spite of a year of hardship. We enter 2021 with hope and optimism as we plan a safe return to our On River Time camps. We're also excited to grow our new year-round Life Skills programming with a retreat held for the college-age students who have aged out of their children's homes. Our goal is to help "pack their suitcases" with life lessons that will prepare them for future success as independent adults. The above quote by Ann Voskamp sums up 2020 for so many of us. In spite of the difficulties and uncertainties of this year, we continue to press forward in hope. Perhaps no one better demonstrates this than the kids we serve. They come from backgrounds of pain, heartache, neglect, and abuse. And yet when they arrive at their new homes, (Big Oak Ranch, Still Creek Ranch, Palmer Home, and Homes of Hope) they learn to trust again. They gain a new family and learn that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them and will never leave them. This is the basis of hope.
