Minding Our Manners

Practicing etiquette with Miss Alabama Lauren Bradford

We have had a great few weeks offering Etiquette classes to the high school students at Big Oak Ranch.

Thank you to Emily Post certified instructor, Suzy Johnson, for leading the classes. Suzy taught the kids, "knowing the rules of etiquette helps you to be comfortable in any situation so you can focus on building relationships."

Suzy went over dining etiquette the first week and then we were so grateful to have Miss Alabama Lauren Bradford talk to the kids about phone and social media etiquette as well as how to make a positive first impression.

On the final night, we were able to treat the kids with an amazing steak dinner prepared by our founder, Steve Davis, along with his friend and chef, Jim Cobb of A Social Affair catering.

This was an incredible opportunity to serve the kids while Suzy guided them through each course so they could practice their new skills.
Miss Alabama was our honored guest and was so wonderful and gracious with the kids.
A big thank you to everyone involved for helping to make it such a special night.

Etiquette is part of On River Time’s "SOAR" programming to provide year round support to the children's homes we serve, with the goal of helping the kids gain important life skills to prepare them for success in life.

Do you want to be a child's champion? We welcome your support. Please partner with us to help break the cycle of abuse and neglect for these amazing kids.
