More Than Fishing
Counting Down to Camp, Staying Committed Year Round
While we are counting down the days until our namesake fly fishing camps on the Snake River in Idaho, we have been visiting the children’s homes we serve to provide even more programming.
When a kid attends On River Time camp, we let them know they are part of the family. Far from a one and done experience, we’re deeply committed to staying involved in their lives through the years. One way we do this is through SOAR, our year-round life skills program designed to equip students with tools for future success.
This spring, we have been busy visiting the children’s homes we serve to help lead the older students in job interview tips and practice mock interviews. With the support of our incredible volunteers, including our Junior Board, each student participates in at least four mock interviews—helping them build confidence and making them more comfortable for the real thing.
We are also grateful for Rebecca Brown (HR Director) and Melissa Barber (Recruiter), both from Basesix for leading Big Oak Ranch’s ASCENDants in a powerful session on interview tips and how to make a great first impression.
It’s an honor to partner with Palmer Home, Big Oak Ranch, and Still Creek Ranch in service of these incredible young people. Through SOAR and beyond, we remain committed to helping break the cycle of abuse and expand opportunities for lifelong success.
